Prayer is a vital part of a Christian’s life and a vital part of church life too. We have the incredible privilege of knowing God and talking to him through Jesus.
As we pray, we can address God as our Heavenly Father who delights to give good gifts to those who ask him. The Lord Jesus taught us the importance and value of prayer. He encouraged us to ‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened’ (Matthew 7:7-8).’
By prayer, we recognize our total dependence upon God for everything. We therefore pray about all aspects of personal and church life, we confess our sins to God and ask for his daily help to live in a way that pleases him.
