Mark Walters – Pastor

 

Mark grew up in West Yorkshire and became a Christian when he was a teenager. He has served as Pastor of Layton Community Church since March 2011. He is married to Heather. He previously worked in the Banking Industry in the London area. Then after 16 years, felt God leading him to train for full time ministry at Oak Hill Theological College. In his spare time, Mark enjoys running, hill walking, DIY, eating curry and just enjoying the great outdoors with Heather. They both share a passion for the West Coast of Scotland (where Mark’s family live). Mark thinks that Jesus Christ is the best news for Blackpool. His desire is to see people come to know Jesus personally and have their lives transformed by him.


Dan Parkinson – Minister in Training

 

Dan joined Layton in September 2025 as our part-time minister in training and is currently studying online with Edinburgh Theological Seminary. He is married to Izzy. Dan is originally from Preston, where he grew up on a dairy farm and is the youngest of 5. He started out in joinery which he did for 7 years until he felt called into ministry. Dan is an avid Manchester United fan and enjoys playing football in his spare time. Along with this, Dan loves hanging out with friends and enjoys a good quiz.


Ron Margerison – Deacon

 

Ron & his wife Rosemarie retired to Lytham St Annes in 2013 from their home town of Blackburn, Lancashire. He came to know the Lord as a child and has served the Lord Jesus since. Ron is a very active member of ‘Gideons International’ serving as Chaplain for the North West Region and chairman of the Blackpool Branch. Before retiring to the Fylde coast, he served as a Trustee and Deacon in his previous church.

Ron spent his career in the photographic & CCTV/security industry. He has many hobbies which include woodturning, road cycling and photography. Fortunately he is gifted with many practical skills which he uses


Kevin Cosgrove – Deacon

 

Kevin was born in New Zealand, but has lived most of his life in Blackpool. He is a retired civil servant and a fanatical Blackpool FC supporter. He can often be found at games cheering on the mighty tangerines. Kevin also loves a good bag of fish and chips, reading and is slowly learning how to speak German.


Heather Walters – Deacon

 

Originally from Liverpool, Heather has ended up living in Blackpool, via twelve years in South West London. She has been a primary schools teacher and Christian Schools Worker, but at the moment she just helps out where she can at church.

Heather is married to Mark. She loves walking, reading, baking and spending time with her family and friends.

Tony Baker – Deacon

Tony is originally from the 2nd city, Birmingham and he moved to Blackpool in 2007 after buying a hotel on the Queen’s promenade which he owned for three years. He has also worked in retail since 1980. Tony joined LCC in 2010. His hobbies and interests include: cycling, listening to music, chess, table tennis and gardening. Being from the city, Tony is a Birmingham city fc fan and also supports Warwickshire county cricket club.

 
Izzy Parkinson – Church Administrator

Izzy joined Layton along with her husband Dan in September 2025 and became administrator in the October. She is a former primary school teacher. Izzy is from Walsall in the West Midlands but has travelled many places including spending 4 years teaching English in South Korea. She also enjoys a good quiz and having a go at baking.
